Chippenham Town

Chippenham Town Football Club, colloquially known as the Bluebirds, is a semi-professional football club based in Chippenham, Wiltshire, England. The club was established in 1873, making it one of the oldest football clubs in the South West of England. The Bluebirds play their home games at Hardenhuish Park, a stadium with a capacity of approximately 3,000 spectators.

The club has a rich history, having played in various leagues over the years. Initially, Chippenham Town competed in the Wiltshire League, where they enjoyed considerable success. In 1951, they joined the Western League, where they remained for nearly half a century. During this period, the Bluebirds won the league title on three occasions and were runners-up twice.

In 1999, Chippenham Town made the leap to the Southern League, marking a significant step up in the level of competition. The club continued to thrive, winning the Southern League Premier Division in the 2004-2005 season. This victory earned them promotion to the Conference South, the sixth tier of English football. However, the club struggled to maintain its footing at this level and was relegated back to the Southern League after just one season.

Despite this setback, Chippenham Town continued to compete with determination and resilience. In 2017, they secured promotion to the National League South, where they currently compete. This achievement marked the highest level of football the club has ever reached.

Over the years, Chippenham Town has also enjoyed success in various cup competitions. They have won the Wiltshire Senior Cup multiple times and have had notable runs in both the FA Cup and the FA Trophy.
