About CSA Steaua Bucureşti

CSA Steaua București, also known as the Army Sports Club Steaua București, is a prominent football club based in Bucharest, Romania. Founded on 7 June 1947 as ASA București (Army Sports Association), the club underwent several name changes before finally settling on CSA Steaua București in 1961. The club is historically associated with the Romanian Army, which initially founded and supported it.

Steaua București has a rich history and is considered one of the most successful football clubs in Romania. It has won the Romanian national championship a record 26 times and the Romanian Cup a record 22 times. The club's golden era was in the mid-1980s when it became the first Eastern European club to win the prestigious European Cup, now known as the UEFA Champions League, in 1986. This victory was followed by a European Super Cup win in the same year.

The club's home ground is the Steaua Stadium, also known as Ghencea Stadium, located in Bucharest. The stadium has a seating capacity of over 30,000 and is known for its passionate and vocal supporters. The club's traditional colors are red and blue, and its emblem is a star, symbolizing its name 'Steaua', which means 'star' in Romanian.

Steaua București has a fierce rivalry with Dinamo București, another top-tier Romanian football club. Matches between the two teams, known as the "Eternal Derby," are some of the most intense and watched games in Romanian football.

In 2003, the club was separated from CSA Steaua and rebranded as FC Steaua București. This move led to a long legal dispute over the ownership of the Steaua brand, which was eventually won by the Army in 2014. As a result, the football club had to change its name to FCSB, while the original CSA Steaua București was reestablished in 2017 and currently competes in the lower tiers of Romanian football.

Despite the legal issues and the split, CSA Steaua București remains a significant name in Romanian football. Its rich history, successful record, and passionate fan base make it a symbol of Romanian football. The club continues to develop young talents and aims to return to the top tier of Romanian football, carrying on the legacy of one of Romania's most successful football clubs.
