Iwaki FC is a professional football club based in Iwaki, Fukushima, Japan. Established in 2010, the club has quickly gained prominence in Japanese football, demonstrating a commitment to nurturing local talent and contributing to the development of football in the region.
The inception of Iwaki FC was driven by the desire to revitalize the local community following the devastating earthquake and tsunami that hit Fukushima in 2011. The club was founded by Hiroyuki Hayashi, a local businessman, with the aim of providing hope and inspiration to the people of Iwaki through football.
Iwaki FC is known for its unique approach to football development. The club operates a comprehensive youth system, with teams ranging from under-12s to under-18s, and a senior team. It has a strong emphasis on developing local talent, with many of its players coming from the Fukushima region.
In 2015, the club made a significant step forward by appointing former Japan national team player, Atsushi Yanagisawa, as its head coach. Under Yanagisawa's guidance, Iwaki FC has made significant progress, both on and off the pitch. The club has consistently performed well in the Tohoku Soccer League, and in 2018, they won the league title, marking a significant milestone in the club's history.
Iwaki FC's home ground is the Iwaki FC Park, a state-of-the-art facility that includes a main stadium, training pitches, and a clubhouse. The club is committed to being a positive force in the local community, and the Iwaki FC Park is often used for community events and activities.
Despite its relatively short history, Iwaki FC has already made a significant impact on Japanese football. The club's commitment to developing local talent, combined with its success on the pitch, has made it a model for other clubs in Japan and beyond. As Iwaki FC continues to grow and develop, it remains committed to its original mission of revitalizing the local community through football.
