Real Esppor Club, also known as Metropolitanos F.C., is a professional football club based in Caracas, Venezuela. The club was initially established as Real Esppor Club in 2006 and has since been a significant part of Venezuela's football scene.
The club was founded by a group of Spanish businessmen who were passionate about football and wanted to promote the sport in Venezuela. The name 'Esppor' was derived from the Spanish word 'espor', meaning 'hope'. The founders aimed to provide hope and opportunities for young Venezuelan footballers to showcase their skills and make a name for themselves in the sport.
Real Esppor Club started its journey in the Venezuelan third division. However, with a strong team and dedicated management, the club quickly climbed the ranks. In 2009, just three years after its establishment, Real Esppor Club was promoted to the Venezuelan first division, a testament to the club's rapid growth and success.
The club's colours are white and blue, and their home matches are played at the Estadio Brígido Iriarte, a multi-purpose stadium in Caracas. The stadium, named after a famous Venezuelan athlete, can accommodate up to 10,000 spectators and is known for its vibrant atmosphere during matches.
Over the years, Real Esppor Club has produced several talented players who have gone on to represent Venezuela at various international levels. The club is known for its strong youth development program, which focuses on nurturing young talent and providing them with the necessary skills and experience to excel in professional football.
In 2014, the club underwent a significant change when it was bought by a new ownership group. The new owners decided to rebrand the club to Metropolitanos F.C., in an effort to create a stronger connection with the city of Caracas. Despite the change in name and branding, the club's commitment to promoting football and developing young talent in Venezuela remains unchanged.
Real Esppor Club, now Metropolitanos F.C., continues to be a significant part of Venezuela's football landscape. The club's journey from a newly established team to a first division club is a testament to the dedication and passion of its founders, players, and supporters. Despite the challenges and changes, the club remains committed to its mission of providing hope and opportunities for young Venezuelan footballers.
