Sibenik

Hailing from the beautiful city of Šibenik, Croatia, HNK Šibenik is a professional football club with a rich history and a strong community spirit. Founded in 1932, the club has been a key player in the Croatian football scene for nearly nine decades.

The club's journey began in the lower leagues, but it quickly climbed the ranks, demonstrating a level of skill and determination that would become its trademark. The club's first major success came in 1968 when it won the Croatian Republic League, earning promotion to the Yugoslav Second League.

The club's most successful period came in the 1980s when it spent several seasons in the Yugoslav First League, the highest tier of football in the former Yugoslavia.

After Croatia's independence in 1991, HNK Šibenik became a founding member of the Croatian First Football League, where it has competed in most seasons since. The club's highest finish in the top tier came in the 2009-10 season when it finished fourth, qualifying for the UEFA Europa League.

HNK Šibenik's home ground is the Stadion Šubićevac, a stadium with a capacity of over 4,000 spectators. Known for its passionate fans, the club has a dedicated supporter base, known as the Funcuti, who are renowned for their colourful displays and unwavering support.

Despite facing financial difficulties and relegation in the early 2010s, the club's resilience saw it bounce back, returning to the Croatian First Football League in 2020. This return to the top tier of Croatian football marked a new chapter in the club's history, demonstrating its enduring spirit and commitment to the sport.

Over the years, HNK Šibenik has produced several notable players who have gone on to achieve success both domestically and internationally. These include Ante Rukavina, who has represented Croatia at the UEFA European Championship, and Ivan Bošnjak, who has played for clubs across Europe.

HNK Šibenik's colours are orange and black, and its crest features the city's iconic St. Michael's Fortress, symbolising the club's deep roots in the local community. The club's motto, "More than a club", reflects its role as a source of local pride and a symbol of the city's sporting spirit.
