About Tacuary

Club Tacuary is a professional football club based in the Barrio Jara neighborhood of Asunción, Paraguay. Founded on November 13, 1923, Tacuary has a rich history in Paraguayan football, despite its relatively modest size and resources compared to some of the country's more prominent clubs.

Tacuary's name is derived from a historical battle that took place in the Paraguayan War, the Battle of Tacuary. The club's emblem, a white star on a blue and red background, symbolizes the bravery and resilience of the Paraguayan soldiers during this battle.

Throughout its history, Tacuary has had a reputation for developing young talent. The club's youth academy has produced several players who have gone on to represent the Paraguay national team, including defender Paulo Da Silva and forward Oscar Cardozo.

Tacuary's home ground is the Estadio Roberto Bettega, which has a capacity of approximately 5,000 spectators. Despite its relatively small size, the stadium is known for its passionate and vocal home support.

In terms of domestic success, Tacuary has had a mixed record. The club has spent most of its history in the second tier of Paraguayan football, but it has also enjoyed periods in the top flight. Tacuary's best season in the Primera División came in 2004, when the club finished in third place.

On the continental stage, Tacuary has also had some success. The club has participated in the Copa Libertadores, South America's premier club competition, on several occasions. In 2007, Tacuary reached the second round of the tournament, which remains the club's best performance in the competition to date.

Despite these achievements, Tacuary has also faced challenges. Financial difficulties have plagued the club at various points in its history, leading to periods of instability and uncertainty.

However, through all its ups and downs, Tacuary has remained a beloved institution in Paraguayan football. The club's commitment to youth development, its passionate fan base, and its resilience in the face of adversity have all contributed to its enduring appeal.

As Tacuary looks to the future, the club will undoubtedly continue to face challenges. But if its history is any indication, Tacuary will continue to fight, to develop new talent, and to make its mark on Paraguayan football.
