Football Club ViOn Zlaté Moravce, commonly known as FC ViOn Zlaté Moravce, is a professional football club based in Zlaté Moravce, Slovakia. The club was founded in 1995, making it one of the younger clubs in Slovak football. Despite its relatively recent establishment, the club has made significant strides in Slovak football, becoming a regular participant in the top tier of Slovak football, the Fortuna Liga.
The club's name, ViOn, is derived from the main sponsor, ViOn, a Slovak company specializing in food production. The company has been instrumental in the club's development, providing financial support that has enabled the club to compete at the highest level of Slovak football.
FC ViOn Zlaté Moravce's home ground is the Štadión FC ViOn, a modern facility with a seating capacity of 3,000. The stadium, which was opened in 2006, is one of the most modern in Slovakia and has been a significant factor in the club's success.
The club's colors are yellow and blue, reflecting the traditional colors of the town of Zlaté Moravce. The club's crest features a stylized football, along with the club's name and the year of its foundation.
FC ViOn Zlaté Moravce made its debut in the Slovak Super Liga, the top tier of Slovak football, in the 2006-2007 season. Since then, the club has established itself as a regular participant in the league, often finishing in the middle of the league table. The club's best finish in the Super Liga came in the 2010-2011 season when it finished in 5th place.
While the club has yet to win the Slovak Super Liga or the Slovak Cup, it has had some success in other competitions. In the 2008-2009 season, the club won the Slovak League Cup, a competition for clubs in the top two tiers of Slovak football.
FC ViOn Zlaté Moravce has also made a name for itself in youth development, with its academy producing several players who have gone on to play for the Slovak national team. The club's focus on youth development is part of its long-term strategy to become a leading force in Slovak football.
Despite its relatively short history, FC ViOn Zlaté Moravce has established itself as a significant player in Slovak football. With its modern facilities, strong youth development program, and consistent performances in the Slovak Super Liga, the club looks set to continue its upward trajectory in the coming years.
