About Zrinjski

Hailing from Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, HŠK Zrinjski Mostar is a professional football club with a rich history that dates back to 1905. The club is named after the Croatian Ban (Viceroy), Petar Keglević, who was also known as Zrinjski, a title he inherited from the noble house of Zrinski. The club's emblem is a white lion, a symbol of the Zrinski family.

Zrinjski Mostar is the oldest football club in Bosnia and Herzegovina and one of the oldest in Southeast Europe. The club was founded by Croatian students and intellectuals, and it initially participated in local competitions. However, the club was banned during the Yugoslav monarchy period from 1945 to 1992 due to its Croatian identity and affiliations.

The club made a triumphant return to professional football in 1992 after the ban was lifted. Since then, Zrinjski Mostar has been a regular participant in the Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the top tier of Bosnian football. The club has won the league title multiple times, making it one of the most successful clubs in the country.

Zrinjski Mostar's home ground is the Bijeli Brijeg Stadium, which can accommodate up to 9,000 spectators. The club's fans, known as Ultras Mostar, are renowned for their passionate support and are considered one of the most ardent fan groups in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The club's traditional colors are white and red, and the team is often referred to as "Plemići" (The Noblemen). Zrinjski Mostar has a fierce rivalry with FK Velež Mostar, another club from Mostar, and their matches, known as the Mostar derby, are some of the most anticipated events in Bosnian football.

Over the years, Zrinjski Mostar has produced and nurtured many talented players who have gone on to have successful careers both domestically and internationally. The club is known for its strong youth academy, which continues to develop promising young talents.

Zrinjski Mostar's journey, from its early beginnings to its ban and subsequent resurgence, is a testament to the club's resilience and determination. Despite the challenges it has faced, the club has remained a symbol of pride and unity for its supporters and the city of Mostar. Today, Zrinjski Mostar continues to strive for excellence, aiming to add more silverware to its trophy cabinet and further cement its place in Bosnian football history.
