AL Assiouty Sport is a professional football club based in Assiut, Egypt. The club was founded in 2008 by Engineer Mahmoud Al Assiouty, a businessman with a passion for sports and a vision to promote football in the Upper Egypt region. Despite its relatively recent establishment, the club has made significant strides in Egyptian football, demonstrating a commitment to nurturing local talent and promoting the sport within the community.
AL Assiouty Sport started its journey in the third division of Egyptian football. However, through strategic planning, investment in talent development, and a strong management team, the club quickly climbed the ranks. In 2014, they were promoted to the Egyptian Premier League, the highest level of professional football in Egypt, marking a significant milestone in the club's history.
The club's colors are orange and blue, and they play their home games at the Assiut Stadium, which has a capacity of 15,000 spectators. Despite not having a long history compared to other Egyptian football clubs, AL Assiouty Sport has managed to build a loyal fan base in Assiut and beyond.
In 2018, the club underwent a significant change when it was acquired by Saudi businessman Turki Al-Sheikh. Following the acquisition, the club was relocated to Cairo and rebranded as Pyramids FC. Despite the change in name and location, the club's commitment to promoting football and nurturing local talent remains unchanged.
Under the new ownership, the club has invested heavily in recruiting top talent, both locally and internationally, and has set its sights on becoming a dominant force in Egyptian and African football. The rebranded club has continued to compete in the Egyptian Premier League and has participated in African club competitions.
Throughout its short history, AL Assiouty Sport has shown a commitment to youth development. The club has established a successful youth academy, which has produced several players who have gone on to play for the first team and other top-tier Egyptian clubs. The academy is known for its focus on technical skills, tactical understanding, and physical development.
Despite the changes and challenges, the spirit of AL Assiouty Sport lives on in Pyramids FC. The club continues to uphold the values of its founder, promoting football in Egypt, investing in local talent, and striving for excellence on and off the pitch. The legacy of AL Assiouty Sport serves as a reminder of the club's humble beginnings and its journey to becoming a notable name in Egyptian football.
