Club Carlos A. Mannucci is a professional football club based in Trujillo, Peru. Founded in 1959, the club is named after Carlos Augusto Mannucci Vega, a prominent businessman and philanthropist in Trujillo. The club's colors, blue and white, are a tribute to Mannucci's Italian heritage.
The club's early years were marked by local success, winning the Liga Distrital de Trujillo several times. However, it was not until 1968 that the club made its debut in the Peruvian First Division. Despite a promising start, the club was relegated after just one season. This marked the beginning of a long period of instability, with the club frequently moving between divisions.
In the 1980s, Carlos A. Mannucci enjoyed a period of success, winning the Peruvian Second Division in 1983 and 1985. However, financial difficulties led to another relegation in 1987. The club spent the next two decades in the lower divisions, struggling to regain its former glory.
In 2014, a new era began for Carlos A. Mannucci. The club was taken over by a group of businessmen led by Raúl Lozano, who invested heavily in the team. This led to a resurgence in the club's fortunes, culminating in promotion to the First Division in 2018.
Since then, Carlos A. Mannucci has established itself as a competitive team in the Peruvian top flight. The club's home ground, Estadio Mansiche, is one of the largest stadiums in Peru, with a capacity of over 25,000. The club's fans, known as 'La Trinchera Tricolor', are renowned for their passionate support.
Carlos A. Mannucci has also made significant contributions to Peruvian football off the pitch. The club operates a successful youth academy, which has produced several players who have gone on to represent the Peruvian national team. The club is also involved in various community projects in Trujillo, reflecting the philanthropic spirit of its namesake.
Despite the challenges it has faced, Carlos A. Mannucci remains a symbol of pride for the people of Trujillo. The club's history is a testament to the resilience and passion of its players, staff, and fans. As it continues to compete in the Peruvian First Division, Carlos A. Mannucci is committed to upholding its rich heritage and striving for success on and off the pitch.
