Founded in 2004, the club is one of the original members of the A-League, the top tier of football in Australia. Known for their navy blue and yellow uniforms, the Mariners have made a significant impact on Australian football in their relatively short history.
The club's home ground is Central Coast Stadium, a 20,059-seat venue located on the Gosford waterfront. The stadium's picturesque setting and intimate atmosphere have made it a favourite among football fans across the country. The Mariners have a strong local following, with passionate fans known as the "Yellow Army" providing a vibrant atmosphere at home games.
The Mariners have enjoyed considerable success since their establishment. They were the A-League premiers in the 2007-2008 and 2011-2012 seasons and won their first A-League Championship in the 2012-2013 season. They have also competed in the AFC Champions League on several occasions, reaching the knockout stage in 2013.
The club has a strong commitment to developing local talent, with a successful youth academy that has produced a number of players who have gone on to represent the club at the senior level and even earn international caps. The Mariners' commitment to youth development is reflected in their motto, "Stand up for the Mariners, Stand up for the Coast".
Over the years, the Mariners have been home to several notable players, including Socceroos stars Mile Jedinak, Matt Simon, and Tom Rogic. They have also attracted international talent, with former Liverpool and England striker Robbie Fowler playing for the club in the 2010-2011 season.
Off the field, the Mariners are actively involved in the local community. The club's community programs focus on promoting healthy lifestyles, social inclusion, and participation in football. The Mariners have also established strong links with local businesses and are a major contributor to the Central Coast economy.
Despite facing financial challenges and periods of on-field struggle, the Central Coast Mariners have remained a resilient and competitive force in Australian football. Their story is one of determination, community spirit, and a love for the beautiful game.
