Getafe will consider trying to buy Mason Greenwood from Manchester United — but stand to profit from a 20 per cent sell-on clause inserted into his loan deal if the striker moves elsewhere. Greenwood joined the La Liga side on a season-long loan on the final day of the summer transfer window and has recorded four goals and three assists in 13 appearances so far. United had initially planned to try and re-integrate the forward after charges of attempted rape, assault, and controlling and coercive behaviour — all of which he denied — were discontinued, only to change their stance...

Getafe Club de Fútbol, commonly known as Getafe CF, is a renowned Spanish professional football club based in Getafe, a city in the Madrid Metropolitan Area, Spain. Founded on 24 February 1983, the club has since carved out a niche for itself in the Spanish football landscape, becoming a regular fixture in La Liga, Spain's top professional football division.
Getafe CF was born out of the ashes of Club Getafe Deportivo, a team that was dissolved in 1982 due to financial difficulties. The new club was officially registered on 8 July 1983 and started its journey in the lower tiers of Spanish football. Their rise was steady, and by the 2004-2005 season, they had reached La Liga for the first time in their history.
The club's home ground is the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez, named after the former Spanish international footballer who was born in the city. The stadium, which can accommodate over 17,000 spectators, has been the club's fortress since 1998.
Getafe CF's team colors are blue and white, symbolizing the city's traditional colors. Their crest features a football, a crown, and the city's coat of arms, which includes a Pegasus. The club's nickname is "Azulones" or "the Deep Blues".
Over the years, Getafe CF has established itself as a competitive side in La Liga, often finishing in the mid-table positions and occasionally challenging for European places. The club's highest finish in La Liga came in the 2018-2019 season when they finished fifth, narrowly missing out on a Champions League spot.
Getafe CF has also enjoyed success in cup competitions. They reached the Copa del Rey final twice, in 2007 and 2008, but were runners-up on both occasions. They also made it to the quarterfinals of the UEFA Cup (now the UEFA Europa League) in the 2007-2008 season, their best performance in a European competition to date.
Despite not having a rich history like some of the more established Spanish clubs, Getafe CF has produced or nurtured some notable players, including Dani Parejo, Roberto Soldado, and Jaime Mata. The club is also known for its robust youth academy, which has produced several players who have gone on to play in La Liga and other top European leagues.
Getafe CF's journey from a newly-formed club in the lower tiers of Spanish football to a regular fixture in La Liga is a testament to their resilience and determination. The club continues to strive for success, embodying the spirit of their motto, "Humility, Effort, Ambition, Respect, and Teamwork".
