Real Santander is a professional football club based in Floridablanca, Colombia. The club was founded on January 6, 2007, and has since established itself as a competitive force in Colombian football.
The club's origins can be traced back to the city of Bucaramanga, where it was initially formed as a subsidiary of Atlético Bucaramanga. However, in 2009, the club relocated to Floridablanca and rebranded itself as Real Santander. This move was aimed at fostering a stronger sense of identity and independence, and it marked the beginning of a new chapter in the club's history.
Real Santander competes in the Categoría Primera B, the second tier of Colombian football. The club's primary aim is to gain promotion to the Categoría Primera A, the top tier of Colombian football. Despite the challenges, Real Santander has consistently shown resilience and determination, often punching above its weight against more established teams.
The club's colors are red and white, and its emblem features a stylized football and a crown, symbolizing its aspiration to become the 'kings' of Colombian football. The team plays its home games at the Álvaro Gómez Hurtado Stadium, a venue with a capacity of 10,400 spectators.
Over the years, Real Santander has nurtured several talented players who have gone on to achieve success at higher levels. The club takes pride in its youth development program, which is considered one of the best in the region. This focus on youth development is part of the club's long-term strategy to build a strong and sustainable future.
Despite its relatively short history, Real Santander has already left a significant mark on Colombian football. The club's journey, marked by ambition, resilience, and a commitment to youth development, has earned it a loyal fan base and respect from its peers. As Real Santander continues to strive for success, it remains a symbol of the passion and potential of Colombian football.
