About Tyumen

Football Club Tyumen, often simply referred to as FC Tyumen, is a professional football club based in Tyumen, Russia. The club was founded in 1961 and has a rich history in Russian football, having competed in various leagues and tournaments throughout its existence.

FC Tyumen's home ground is the Geolog Stadium, which has a seating capacity of 13,000 spectators. The club's colors are blue and white, and their emblem features a snow leopard, a symbol of the Tyumen region.

In its early years, FC Tyumen competed in the Soviet leagues, achieving moderate success. The club's most significant achievement during this period was winning the Soviet First League, the second-highest division in the Soviet Union, in 1989. This victory allowed the club to compete in the Soviet Top League, the highest division, for the first time in its history.

Following the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, FC Tyumen became a part of the newly formed Russian football league system. The club was placed in the Russian Top Division, the highest level of Russian football. During the 1990s, FC Tyumen had a strong presence in the Top Division, with several top-ten finishes.

However, financial difficulties led to the club's relegation to the lower leagues in the early 2000s. Despite these challenges, FC Tyumen continued to compete and managed to maintain a strong fan base. The club has spent most of the 21st century in the Russian Professional Football League, the third tier of Russian football.

FC Tyumen has also had a notable presence in the Russian Cup, reaching the quarterfinals on several occasions. The club's best performance in this tournament came in the 1993-94 season when they reached the semifinals.

Throughout its history, FC Tyumen has produced several players who have gone on to have successful careers in Russian and international football. These include Sergei Kiriakov, a former Russian international who played for clubs such as Karlsruher SC in Germany and Racing Paris in France, and Aleksandr Borodyuk, who represented the Soviet Union at the 1990 World Cup.

Despite its ups and downs, FC Tyumen remains a beloved institution in the Tyumen region. The club's matches continue to draw large crowds, and its youth academy is renowned for producing talented players. FC Tyumen's enduring presence in Russian football is a testament to its resilience and the passionate support of its fans.
