FC Helsingør, also known as Football Club Helsingør, is a professional football club based in Helsingør, Denmark. The club was founded in 2005 as a result of a merger between Helsingør Amatør Sport and Elite 3000 Fodbold. The club's primary colors are blue and white, reflecting the city's maritime heritage.
FC Helsingør plays its home matches at the Helsingør Stadium, a venue with a seating capacity of 4,500 spectators. The club's fan base, although not as large as some of the more established Danish clubs, is known for its passionate support.
The club's journey in the Danish football league system has been a roller coaster ride. After its inception, FC Helsingør quickly climbed the ranks of Danish football, reaching the Danish 1st Division, the second-highest football league in Denmark, in 2014. The club achieved its highest league position in 2017 when it was promoted to the Danish Superliga, the top tier of Danish football, for the first time in its history. However, the club's stint in the Superliga was short-lived, and it was relegated back to the 1st Division after just one season.
Despite the relegation, FC Helsingør has continued to develop its youth academy and infrastructure, aiming to establish itself as a regular contender in the Danish Superliga. The club has a reputation for nurturing young talent, with several players moving on to play in bigger European leagues.
FC Helsingør's emblem features a stylized version of Kronborg Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in Helsingør, and a football. The castle is a symbol of the city's rich history and cultural significance, while the football represents the sport that unites the club and its supporters.
The club's motto, "Sammen til Toppen" (Together to the Top), encapsulates its ambition to reach the pinnacle of Danish football and its commitment to achieving this goal as a united community. Despite the ups and downs, FC Helsingør remains a beloved part of the Helsingør community and an important player in Danish football.
