FK Vozdovac is a professional football club based in Vozdovac, a municipality in the city of Belgrade, Serbia. The club was originally established in 1912, making it one of the oldest football clubs in the country. The team's colors are red and white, and they are affectionately known as "The Dragons" by their loyal fan base.
FK Vozdovac has a rich history, having played in various leagues and divisions throughout its existence. The club spent most of its early years in the lower divisions of Yugoslav football. However, in the 1950s and 1960s, they managed to reach the top tier of Yugoslav football, marking a significant period of success for the club.
In the 1990s, FK Vozdovac experienced a period of decline and even faced dissolution. However, in 2005, the club merged with another local team, FK Zvezdara, and was able to regain its status in the Serbian football league system. This merger marked a new era for the club, and they have since managed to establish themselves as a stable club in the Serbian SuperLiga, the top tier of Serbian football.
FK Vozdovac's home ground is the unique Stadium Shopping Center, which is located on the rooftop of a shopping mall. This stadium, which was built in 2013, is one of the most distinctive football venues in the world and has a capacity of over 5,000 spectators.
Despite its ups and downs, FK Vozdovac has always been known for its dedication to youth development. The club's youth academy has produced many talented players who have gone on to have successful careers in both domestic and international football. This commitment to nurturing young talent is a cornerstone of the club's philosophy and is a significant factor in its enduring presence in Serbian football.
FK Vozdovac has also made a name for itself through its community involvement. The club is deeply rooted in the local community and regularly organizes events and activities for its fans and local residents. This strong community connection is a key part of the club's identity and has helped to foster a loyal and passionate fan base.
While FK Vozdovac may not have the same level of recognition or success as some of Serbia's larger clubs, it remains a respected and important part of the country's football landscape. With its unique stadium, commitment to youth development, and strong community ties, FK Vozdovac is a club with a rich history and a bright future.
