About Livingston

Livingston Football Club, commonly known as Livi, is a professional football club based in Livingston, West Lothian, Scotland. The club was founded in 1943 as Ferranti Thistle, a works team of the Ferranti engineering company, based in Edinburgh. In 1974, Ferranti Thistle became Meadowbank Thistle after being admitted into the Scottish Football League. The club relocated to Livingston in 1995, changing its name to Livingston FC.

Livingston FC has had a rollercoaster journey through the divisions of Scottish football. The club's most successful period came in the early 2000s when they won the Scottish League Cup in 2004 and qualified for the UEFA Cup. However, financial difficulties led to administration in 2004 and subsequent relegations.

Livingston FC's home ground is the Tony Macaroni Arena, previously known as Almondvale Stadium. It has a seating capacity of 9,512 and is known for its distinctive yellow and black seating arrangement, mirroring the club's colours.

The club has a reputation for developing young talent, with many players going on to play at higher levels. Notable former players include Robert Snodgrass, Graham Dorrans, and Leigh Griffiths, all of whom have represented Scotland at the international level.

Livingston FC has also had its share of notable managers. These include David Hay, who led the club to its League Cup victory, and Gary Holt, a former Scotland international who managed the club from 2018 to 2020.

Despite the club's financial struggles, Livingston FC has shown resilience and determination. After spending several years in the lower divisions, the club achieved back-to-back promotions in 2017 and 2018 to return to the Scottish Premiership, the top tier of Scottish football.

Livingston FC's mascot, named Lionel Lion, is a popular figure at home games. The club's supporters are known as the 'Livi Lions', and they have a passionate and loyal following.

The club's traditional colours are yellow and black, which are featured in their home kit. The away kit varies from season to season but often includes a combination of white, black, and gold.

Livingston FC's motto, "Together We Can Make It", reflects the club's community spirit and ambition. Despite the challenges it has faced, the club continues to strive for success on and off the pitch.

In recent years, Livingston FC has focused on becoming a sustainable club, both financially and environmentally. The club has implemented various green initiatives, including recycling programs and the use of renewable energy at their stadium.

Livingston FC is more than just a football club; it's a symbol of community spirit and resilience. From its humble beginnings as a works team to its current status in the Scottish Premiership, the club's journey is a testament to the power of perseverance and the love of football.
