Radnički Novi Beograd is a Serbian football club based in New Belgrade, a municipality of the city of Belgrade. The club, whose name translates to "Workers' New Belgrade," has a rich history that dates back to its founding in 1920. Despite its long existence, the club has spent most of its history in the lower tiers of the Serbian football league system.
Radnički Novi Beograd was formed by a group of workers, which is reflected in the club's name. The club's colors are red and white, and they play their home games at the Stadion Radnički Novi Beograd, a modest venue with a capacity of around 1,500 spectators. The club's emblem features a football and a gear, symbolizing the club's working-class roots.
Throughout its history, Radnički Novi Beograd has had several periods of success. The club has spent a number of seasons in the Serbian First League, the second-highest tier of Serbian football. However, they have yet to make their debut in the SuperLiga, the top tier of Serbian football. Despite this, the club has a dedicated fan base and is known for its youth development program, which has produced several players who have gone on to have successful careers in higher-level leagues.
In recent years, Radnički Novi Beograd has faced financial difficulties, leading to several relegations. Despite these challenges, the club remains an important part of the local community and continues to compete in the lower tiers of Serbian football. The club's resilience and dedication to the sport have earned it a special place in the hearts of its fans and the wider Serbian football community.
The club's most notable achievement came in the 1990s when they reached the quarterfinals of the Yugoslav Cup, a national knockout competition. Despite their underdog status, Radnički Novi Beograd put on a series of impressive performances to reach the latter stages of the competition, earning them widespread recognition and respect.
Radnički Novi Beograd's history is a testament to the passion and resilience of its players, staff, and fans. Despite the challenges they have faced, the club continues to compete and develop young talent, contributing to the rich tapestry of Serbian football. As they look to the future, Radnički Novi Beograd will continue to uphold its proud traditions and strive for success on the pitch.
