About Monterrey

Club de Fútbol Monterrey, commonly known as Monterrey or Rayados, is a professional football club based in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico. Founded on June 28, 1945, the club is one of the oldest and most successful in Mexican football. Monterrey is owned by FEMSA, the largest convenience-store operator in the Americas, and plays its home matches at the Estadio BBVA, a state-of-the-art stadium with a seating capacity of 53,500.

Monterrey has a rich history in Mexican football, having won the Liga MX, Mexico's top-tier football league, five times. The club's first title came in the 1985–86 season, and they have since added titles in the Apertura 2009, Apertura 2010, Apertura 2019, and Guard1anes 2020. In addition to their domestic success, Monterrey has also made a name for itself on the international stage. They have won the CONCACAF Champions League four times, in 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2019, making them one of the most successful clubs in the competition's history.

Monterrey's traditional colors are blue and white, represented in their striped home kit, which has earned them the nickname "Rayados" (the Striped Ones). The club's crest features a mountain range, symbolizing the city's location near the Sierra Madre Oriental. The club's mascot, a greyhound dog named "Turco," is a nod to the club's working-class roots and the city's history as a hub for greyhound racing.

Over the years, Monterrey has been home to many notable players, both from Mexico and abroad. These include Humberto Suazo, a Chilean striker who is the club's all-time leading scorer, and Cuauhtémoc Blanco, one of Mexico's greatest ever players. The club has also produced a number of talented players through its youth academy, including Jesús Zavala, a Mexican international, and César Montes, a promising young defender.

Monterrey's main rival is Tigres UANL, another Monterrey-based club. Matches between the two teams, known as the Clásico Regiomontano, are among the most heated in Mexican football, with the city divided in its loyalties.

Off the pitch, Monterrey is known for its commitment to the community. The club runs a number of social programs aimed at improving the lives of disadvantaged children in the Monterrey area, using football as a tool for social change.

In summary, Club de Fútbol Monterrey is a pillar of Mexican football, with a rich history and a bright future. With its passionate fan base, successful youth academy, and commitment to community outreach, Monterrey continues to be a leader both on and off the pitch.
